The Institute for Youth Work is governed by a council elected from the Institutes membership, with 3 members representing each of the 4 membership categories. All members are eligible to apply for election with voting taking place through the IYW website every three years.
Key roles are filled by nomination from within the council with officers (Chair, Vice-chair, Finance, Communications and Membership) fulfilling their roles for 3 years before standing for renomination.
Details of our election cycle for council members and key roles can be found in our governance document here.
There are currently two vacant spaces within the council representing the ‘Members’ category, if you would like to apply to become part of the council and represent this category contact us.
The Council is supported by invited representatives of other organisations who provide specific skills required to support particular organisational needs and inform decision making.
